Commemorative medals are a sector of numismatics that is of significant historical interest and over the years has also involved homeopathy. The first “homeopathic” medal was struck on August 10th, 1829, in Dresden to commemorate the jubilee of S. Hahnemann’s doctorate at Erlangen University. Since then, throughout the 19thcentury, many were dedicated to the professor by homeopathic societies or by his students, with artistic contributions by famous engravers and sculptors, among them David D’Angers (1788 – 1856). In the following years, and also in modern times, there have been medals struck to commemorate congresses or dedicated to famous homeopaths. The “Numismatics and Homeopathy” Collection is aimed at documenting and promoting this interesting theme collection.
